Adoption Process

Maria, Managing Director/Co-founder/President

Maria has spent her life helping and interacting with animals.  She was active in 4-h as a youth and is dedicated to helping pets in need throughout the community.  Shawn and Maria Co-Founded Rainbow Rescues in 2008 to make the world a better place One Adoption At A Time.

We need your application to be sure that our pets will match your home.  Our goal is to place pets in the best home for their personality.

Meet and Greet.

Once your application is processed we will set up a meet and greet at our Chicopee location.

Home Visit

Our dedicated volunteers bring the adoptable pet to your home to be sure that the pet will do well as your new family member.  At this time, if all goes well, an Adoption Contract will be signed and the pet will be staying with its new family.

Shawn has spent a lifetime helping and interacting with animals and pets of all kinds and sizes.  He is an integral part of the day to day operations involved in rescue.  As a young man Shawn was constantly bringing lost and injured animals home for help... He hasn't changed since then!

Kathy, Lead Volunteer

Kathy started with us in 2013 and has quickly become the backbone of our office team.  Kathy is a dedicated and important member of our organization who single handedly manages our day to day office operations.  Without Kathy our applications would never get published and our appointments would never be made.

Jeff,  Foster Mentor

Jeff has been with us as a foster for many years now.  He and his family have helped us save many pets over the years and Jeff has volunteered to help us organize our Foster Homes.   

Rainbow Rescues is a foster based, volunteer run, Animal Rescue Organization with an active 501c3 status. 

We have a dedicated and loving group of volunteers and foster homes that allow us to do the wonderful things we do. 

Our goal is to ensure our pets are in happy and loving new homes that will continue to love and care for them as they deserve.
