PET SURRENDER We realize that many factors can come into play when making the difficult decision to surrender an animal. Please know that we will always do everything we can to help you to deal with your situation and are available to give advice or counsel to help in your decision. Rainbow Rescues Inc is a foster based rescue agency and, as such, we do not have an ability to always accept immediate surrenders. We do not accept pets on whether they are "good" or "bad", but on whether or not we have a space in a foster home that will suit that animal's needs and requirements. We are a no-kill rescue dedicated to placing all of our surrendered or rescued pets into loving homes. When accepting a surrender we need to be sure that we have a place to house the animal until the pet is able to be adopted, we do not have a kennel or shelter in which to house extra animals so we can not always accept more animals. When deciding to surrender an animal please consider the options that you have in re-homing your pet yourself. If you are able to re-home your pet, Rainbow Rescues is able to save another pet's life. There are several resources out there to help you to re-home your pet, including putting up posters, creating a listing on Craigslist and creating a classified on petfinder.com. We will gladly try to assist with ideas and ways to get started with all of these options and will provide you with as much assistance as possible. If you are unable to try these methods, or have tried these methods with no success, please contact our office via email applications@rainbowrescues.org or through our message line 413-612-2744 and a volunteer will gather the necessary information from you to see if we have a spot available. Our surrender process is not difficult or long, but it is crucial to the success of our Rescue Program. Please remember also that we will not charge a surrender fee for your animal but a donation of $40 or more to accompany the surrender is highly encouraged. Often surrendered animals come to us needing vaccinations, medical treatment, and spay/neuter (not to mention the food, grooming, and other essentials). As you may know, the costs of these treatments and procedures are very high. Your donation provides your surrendered pet with a new start on life by keeping our rescue operating and our adoption donations low. |
